Capsule Geology

The B.T. 8-10 occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1510 metres on a northeast-facing slope, approximately 6.8 kilometres west-northwest of the west end of North Barriere Lake.

The area is underlain by limestone, mudstone, siltstone, shale and fine clastic sedimentary rocks of the Mississippian Slate Creek unit of the Eagle Bay Assemblage.

Locally, trenching is reported to have identified ‘considerable’ sulphide mineralization with ‘good’ values in gold, silver, lead and zinc over a width of approximately 9.0 metres with another zone of bornite in schist and quartz being located along strike approximately 15 to 18 metres away (Assessment Report 5363).

In 2005, a drillhole (GC-04-04), located approximately 1.2 kilometres to the south, intercepted two mineralized quartz veins in argillite(?) yielding 0.39 and 0.35 gram per tonne gold over 1.0 metre each, whereas a nearby rock sample (GK-04-042) of rusty argillite with sericite assayed 0.135 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27890).

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Energite (MINFILE 082M 065) occurrence and a complete exploration history can be found there.

In 1974, a program of prospecting and trenching was completed on the area as the B.T. claims.

During 2003 through 2005, Navasota Resources Ld. completed programs of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, geological mapping and a 2.5 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Gold Creek 1-3 claims.
